How to choose a manufacturing supplier

Start with your production requirement. A clear brief helps suppliers decide whether their equipment, processes and support fit your project.

1. Define the application

Specify the product or material, input conditions, required output, target capacity and operating environment. Include the project country and the intended installation or delivery date.

2. Compare relevant capabilities

Use the directory's services and industry filters to find a focused shortlist. Look for experience with similar applications and ask for examples the supplier is permitted to share.

3. Request a technical and commercial proposal

Ask about scope, exclusions, testing, acceptance criteria, lead times, installation, training and after-sales support. Compare total project cost, including consumables, utilities, maintenance and spare parts.

4. Check project-specific documentation

For requirements such as material compatibility, traceability, quality systems or process validation, request current documents directly from the supplier. Confirm which legal entity and manufacturing site will perform the work.

5. Agree on acceptance and support

Document performance requirements, delivery milestones, responsibilities and the support available at your location before committing to a project.
